A Showy Shindig for Caroline, or Change

Caroline, or Change, the last musical entry of the season (just getting in under the May 5 Tony eligibility cutoff), celebrated its May 2 opening in style. The musical, which boasts the esteemed creative team of writer Tony Kushner, composer Jeanine Tesori and director George C. Wolfe, stars powerhouse performer Tonya Pinkins in the title role as an always frowning, embittered maid in remote Louisiana during 1963, a year of much change in this country. Pinkins' frown was replaced by a beaming grin at the opening night party at Gotham Hall. Take a look!
