It's Tony Time at Tavern on the Green! Annual Honors Awarded
Is it Tony time already? Kinda! On Tuesday, October 24th, at a sunny brunch at Tavern on the Green, the 16th annual Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theater were awarded in a mid-day ceremony hosted by Cynthia Nixon, winner of the 2006 Tony Award for Best Actress in The Rabbit Hole. Given out each year since 1990, the Tony Honors are awarded by the Tony Administration Committee to institutions, individuals and/or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary achievement in theater, but are not eligible in any of the established Tony Award categories. Congratulations to the 2006 winners: BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, Forbidden Broadway creator Gerard Alessandrini, Vice President of William Morris Agency Biff Liff, and founding directing of La MaMa, Ellen Stewart.
