After Midnight - Broadway

A heart-pounding new musical brings the sexy, smoky glamour of Harlem's Golden Age to a whole new generation.

What Is the Story of After Midnight?
This jazzy 90-minute dance-centric concert musical doesn’t have a story, but the production numbers are loosely linked by the fictional setting, Harlem’s iconic Cotton Club.

Should I See It?

What Is After Midnight Like?
Fabulous fun! The incomparable Jazz at Lincoln Center All Stars Orchestra sits in big-band formation on the stage of Broadway’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre, providing a swinging backdrop for a cast of great singers and dancers. The 90-minute-long show features the best of Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway and more composers, with raise-the-roof tap and jazz dancing choreographed by director Warren Carlyle. Add elegant costumes by fashion designer Isabel Toledo, and you’ve got a sophisticated evening everyone will love.

Is After Midnight Good for Kids?
A few songs are sexually suggestive, but the lyrics are likely to go over younger viewers’ heads. If your school-age child enjoys performances with no story but plenty of singing and dancing, After Midnight is a good choice for the family.
