The Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning hit about a dysfunctional family in crisis.
It's official: the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play August: Osage County got its very own "day," compliments of a proclamation from New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg. In recognition of the show's 300th performance, the mayor declared August 13 "August: Osage County Day," noting that Tracy Letts' play "yielded tremendous cultural and economic benefits for" New York City and "reaffirmed New York's proud heritage of welcoming the world's boldest, most powerful works of art." (Wisely, the proclamation didn't comment on the play's fabulously twisted depiction of family relationships.) To celebrate their day, the cast of the Broadway hit gathered at Sardi's to receive the proclamation, complete with an official gold seal. Congrats, August!
