Paul McGann, Penny Downie and Amanda Drew will join previously announced star Dominic West in the upcoming West End revival of Butley. The production will begin performances on June 1 and play through August 27 at the Duchess Theatre. Opening night is set for June 6.
McGann will take on the role of Reg Nuttall, with Downie playing Edna Shaft and Drew taking on Anne Butley. The cast also features Martin Huston, Cai Brigden and Emma Hiddleston.
Simon Gray's Butley follows the title character on a day when things just won't go his way. His estranged wife has found a new lover, his protege has found a new mentor and a incompetent co-worker is even finding professional success. With his knack for troublemaking, Butley hopes to wreak havoc on the lives of those around him.
McGann's theater credits include Helen and Mourning Becomes Electra. Downie appeared onstage in Hamlet, Dinner and The Penelopiad. Drew was recently seen on the West End in Otherwise Engaged, House of Games and Enron.
The revival is directed by Lindsay Posner and will feature set design by Peter McKintosh and lighting design by Howard Harrison.
