West End Hair Cut Short: September 4 Closing Announced

The West End production of Hair will end its run on September 4 at the Gielgud Theatre. The show was originally scheduled to run through January, but producers have decided not to re-cast the show when the current American company departs.

Hair currently stars the Broadway revival’s original Tony-nominated leads Gavin Creel and Will Swenson and most of the original tribe. Swenson previously announced a May 31 departure date, at which point he will join  the pre-Broadway production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert in Toronto.

The West End production of Hair opened on April 14. Hair continues to run on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
