Broadway's Hair Prepares for Real Life Be-In at The National Equality March

In one of the best recent examples of art imitating life (and vice versa), Broadway's Hair and its passionate hippies have canceled their October 11 performance in order to attend the National Equality March in Washington, D.C. The all-love musical and the rally are an obvious match made in peaceful protest heaven, so it's no surprise that the cast accented their Broadway bows on October 8 with a sneak peek at what marchers will see for themselves during the main event on the 11th (the rally ends with a performance by the Hair cast). Star Gavin Creel, co-founder of marriage equality organization Broadway Impact, and his peaceful band of Hairy brothers and sisters took the stage with real protest signs in hand, reminding the audience to join in the fight for equal rights both at the rally and by taking action in their own communities. If Hair's onstage excitement was any indicator of the contagious energy protestors will encounter first-hand on Sunday, D.C. residents better beware--looks like there'll be a colorful be-in amid all the other activity at the March.
