Vanessa Ray to Play Crissy in the Broadway Revival of Hair

Vanessa Ray has joined the cast of Hair as Crissy, temporarily replacing Allison Case, who will return to the Tony-winning revival in January 2010. Hair continues its run at Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre, directed by Diane Paulus.

The cast of Hair also includes Sasha Allen, Ato Blankson-Wood, Krystal Joy Brown, Steel Burkhardt, Jackie Burns, Heath Calvert, Briana Carlson-Goodman, Gavin Creel, Matt DeAngelis, Lauren Elder, Allison Guinn, Chasten Harmon, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Rachel Bay Jones, Kaitlin Kiyan, Andrew Kober, Josh Lamon, Caissie Levy, Nicole Lewis, John Moauro, Darius Nichols, Brandon Pearson, Paris Remillard, Megan Reinking, Bryce Ryness, Michael James Scott, Hannah Shankman, Maya Sharpe, Kacie Sheik, Will Swenson, Ryan Watkinson and Tommar Wilson.

Hair features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot. It centers on a group of young Americans searching for love and peace during the Vietnam era.

Ray has appeared as Teri Ciccone in the daytime soap opera As the World Turns and in an episode of the new series Bored to Death. Regional theater credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
