Michele Pawk Signs On at Broadway's Hairspray

Tony Award winner Michele Pawk will join the Broadway cast of Hairspray as Velma Von Tussle on August 21. She succeeds Isabel Keating in the role of the conniving TV producer and mom of Tracy Turnblad's rival, Amber at the Neil Simon Theatre.

Pawk received a Tony Award for best featured actress for Carol Burnett's play Hollywood Arms. Her other Broadway credits include Losing Louie, Mamma Mia!, Chicago, Seussical, Cabaret, Triumph of Love, Crazy For You and Mail. Off-Broadway credits include The Dark at the Top of the Stairs, The Paris Letter, Reefer Madness, After the Fair, Hello Again, Merrily We Roll Along, john & jen and A Little Night Music.

Hairspray currently features Shannon Durig, Paul Vogt, Lance Bass, Ashley Parker Angel, Jerry Mathers, Ashley Spencer, Tevin Campbell, Darlene Love and Niki Scalera.
