Mega-hit musical Hairspray reached a milestone on January 11; the show played its 1,000th performance. Did such an event go unnoticed? No way! Original Edna Turnblad, Tony winner Harvey Fierstein, sent a little something special to the company... OK, it wasn't little at all--it was a gigantic cake in the shape of (what else) a bottle of hairspray! Fierstein has moved on from playing a mama to playing a papa in the revival of Fiddler on the Roof, but everyone knows that Hairspray has a special place in his heart.
