It was a Hairspray extravaganza at midtown Manhattan's Ziegfeld Theatre on Monday, July 16, when the new movie musical of the Broadway smash made its New York premiere. Stars from the film, original Broadway cast members, current Broadway cast members, plus its Tony Award-winning song and book writers, and even the father of Hairspray himself, filmmaker John Waters, strutted down the red carpet (and into the party afterward at Roseland) to usher in director/choreographer Adam Shankman's $75 million movie, which opens nationwide July 20.
