Stephen Spinella has the rare honor of having won two Tony Awards for the same role, Prior Walter, in the two parts of Angels in America. He received an additional Tony nomination for The Dead and has appeared on Broadway in The Velocity of Autumn, Spring Awakening, Our Town, Electra and A View from the Bridge.

Broadway debut, following BAM production. Originated roles in premieres of Lobby Hero (Lortel nomination), The Realistic Joneses, THIS, Ripcord, The True, The Remains (Hayes nomination), I’m Revolting, plus Sam Gold’s Othello, Ivo Van Hove’s Hedda Gabler, and Austin Pendleton’s Ivanov. Film and television includes: Flirting with Disaster, The Ice Storm, The Sixth Sense, A Price Above Rubies, Finding Forrester, Series 7, Detroit, Dirty Sexy Money, Six Feet Under, Madam Secretary.

An actor, director, playwright, and, at HB Studio in New York, a teacher of acting.  His most recent acting appearances in New York have been in Life Sucks (with the Wheelhouse Company), and Choir Boy (MTC Broadway). He has appeared in many movies and a great deal of TV.  He is a member of the Ensemble at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater.
