Momma, Martha & More! Night Music Diva Catherine Zeta-Jones Reveals Dream Roles

Catherine Zeta-Jones

It seems Catherine Zeta-Jones is already plotting a return to the stage. The Oscar winner, who is currently enjoying an acclaimed run in Broadway's A Little Night Music, sat down with the Toronto Star, revealing a list of five dream roles.

Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?: "Don't you think Michael [Douglas] and I would be good in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? I certainly do. Of course, I've seen the two of us in action!"

Cleopatra: "Steven Soderbergh and I have been talking about putting her in a 3D rock 'n' roll musical, but I'd love to play her any way I could. What a fascinating character!"

A Chekhov Heroine: "[Night Music director] Trevor [Nunn] talked so much about how Chekhovian A Little Night Music was that I started thinking I'd love to play one of those beautifully wounded women of his."

Momma Rose in Gypsy: "It's one of the greatest musicals, but I'm too old now for [Louise] and still too young for Momma Rose. But that's such a wonderful part, I'd wait forever to play it."

Anything Lloyd Webber: "I guess it's because I never got cast in Aspects of Love, but I've always wanted to do one of [Andrew Lloyd Webber's] shows....Don't worry, my day will come!"

We're looking forward to it, Zeta!
