Oliver Seymour-March will officially take over the role of rockabilly legend Carl Perkins in London’s Million Dollar Quartet on March 28. Seymour-March, who has been playing the part at certain performances, will assume the role from Robert Britton Lyons, who plays his final London performance on March 26 before returning to the Broadway production later in the spring. In addition to Seymour-March, the London cast includes Bill Ward as Sun Records founder Sam Phillips, Ben Goddard as Jerry Lee Lewis, Derek Hagen as Johnny Cash, Michael Malarkey as Elvis Presley and Francesca Jackson as Dyanne.
Seymour-March’s previous stage credits include Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story, Dreamboats and Petticoats, Aladdin, The Mysteries of Maria Marten and A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum.
Inspired by the famed December 4, 1956, recording session that brought together rock icons Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley, Million Dollar Quartet recreates the legendary session and the story of the men who made it happen. With a book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux, the production features a roster of classic rock and country hits, including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “I Walk the Line,” “Folsom Prison Blues” and “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On.”
The London production of Million Dollar Quartet officially opened on March 7 at the Noel Coward Theatre. The Broadway version bowed at the Nederlander Theatre on April 11, 2010, where it is still running.
