Oscar nominee Michael Shannon has played so many scary guys (Revolutionary Road, Bug, 8 Mile), it’s nice to welcome him to an all-American role—the Stage Manager—in the ultimate all-American play, Our Town. Shannon joined the hit off-Broadway revival on February 23, three days before the Thornton Wilder classic marked its first birthday at the Barrow Street Theatre. On February 26, director and original star David Cromer (now busy helming When the Rain Stops Falling at Lincoln Center Theater), headed downtown to welcome Shannon and celebrate with his fabulous cast. To paraphrase the Stage Manager, Nice Town, y’know what I mean?
