As summer begins, a new cast of David Mamet’s Race, led by Eddie Izzard and Dennis Haysbert, is headed to trial at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre beginning June 21. Original cast member Richard Thomas will continue his run as Charles Strickland, a wealthy man accused of rape, while former Race understudy Afton C. Williamson receives a promotion to full-time status. Watch as Thomas discusses what it’s like to welcome in a new set of co-stars, while Williamson gushes about her gig, Haysbert (who previously worked with Mamet on TV’s The Unit) talks about the excitement of making his Broadway debut, and Izzard reveals why it’s a thrill to be working in New York City on a David Mamet show.
