From Cabaret to Curtains, John Kander has composed some of the best-loved and most indelible American musicals. And he’s not done yet: On March 10 (a week before his 83rd birthday), his new musical, The Scottsboro Boys, will open at the Vineyard Theatre. Appropriately enough, the off-Broadway company chose Kander as honoree at the Vineyard’s 2010 benefit gala, held on March 8 at the Hudson Theatre. A glittering array of stars who’ve appeared in Kander & Ebb musicals took the stage to perform, led by host David Hyde Pierce. As always, Broadway.com was on the scene, too.
