Fresh off his triumph as host of the 2009 Emmy Awards, How I Met Your Mother star and Broadway vet Neil Patrick Harris returned to the Big Apple to take in a performance of Tracy Letts’ new comedy Superior Donuts. He was eager to check out the acclaimed performances of Michael McKean and Jon Michael Hill, of course, but Harris had another reason to see the play: His partner, David Burtka, played Tulsa alongside Superior cast member Kate Buddeke as Mazeppa in the 2003 Broadway revival of Gypsy! Broadway.com caught up with the couple backstage at the Music Box Theatre after the October 4 matinee, much to the delight of the Superior Donuts cast.
