Hilarious Hitchcockian whodunit The 39 Steps first took the Broadway stage on January 4, 2008. Three theaters, two Tony Awards and heaven only knows how many quick-changes later, the hit comedy spoof celebrated its 700th performance on November 10, 2009. The production, now playing at the Helen Hayes Theatre, celebrated as any show should: with really, really good cupcakes. Stars Sean Mahon, Jill Paice, Jeffery Kuhn and Arnie Burton (who has been with the production since day one!) toasted their show's major milestone with sugary treats, then promptly got into character (or, as the show mandates, many characters) for their anniversary performance.
