In off-Broadway's The 39 Steps, the hilarious crime caper lovingly spoofing the classic 1935 Alfred Hitchcock suspense film of the same name, four actors go into full-on chameleon mode as they play more than 100 characters (sometimes quickly transforming on stage with just the change of a hat!). The hard-working cast does backstage duty, as well, using shadow puppets and other creative techniques to move the story along. Broadway.com photographer Jenny Anderson was invited backstage at New World Stages on June 9 to capture all the craziness that happens during a single performance. Take a look as stars John Behlmann, Kate MacCluggage, Jamie Jackson and Cameron Folmar run the marathon of frantic costume changes, makeup adjustments and daring stunts that is The 39 Steps!
