The Helen Hayes Theatre is going to be awfully crowded over the next several months. The cozy space had over a hundred characters take up residence there on January 21, when hit Hitchcockian comedy The 39 Steps put down roots in the theater and got back down to the business of entertaining (luckily, the hundred-plus characters are played by the same four actors, Sean Mahon, Arnie Burton, Francesca Faridany and Jeffrey Kuhn, so things won’t be too tight). The move was the production’s second big New York jump (and third if you count jumping across the pond from its London home) since its Broadway debut in January 2008, which was followed by a relocation to the Cort Theatre from April 29, 2008 to January 4, 2009. Now, after unpacking its bags, the madcap show is finally back to wowing audiences with its whiplash speed and big laughs. Click here to welcome The 39 Steps back to the stage!
