Performance group 7 Fingers presents its acrobatic show off-Broadway.
What Is the Story of Traces?
Traces does not have a linear narrative, instead it’s a poetic performance told through acrobatic feats and awe-inspiring moves in an apocalyptic setting. It begs the question, “If the world ended tomorrow, what would you leave behind?” Part dance show, part introspective performance art, the performers often address the audience and share personal information before continuing their explosive stunts.
What Is Traces Like?
Set on a stage modeled to look like a run-down warehouse, Traces features seven performers (one female and six males) as they perform incredible acrobatic acts. The performance troupe combines traditional circus tricks with the energy of raw street performance. The different skits use a variety of props such as skateboards, basketballs and Chinese yo-yos. The performance also includes stylized dance and gymnastic moves.
Is Traces Good for Kids?
Unhindered by narrative structure, Traces is appropriate for all ages. Though it has an underlying existential theme and gritty setting, children will be impressed by the high energy and lively physicality of the piece.
