Andy Karl to Bring Fans Backstage at Wicked with Broadway.com Video Blog

Andy Karl, who stepped into the role of Fiyero in the Broadway smash hit Wicked on February 2, 2010, is Broadway.com’s newest backstage video blogger! In Oz Blog, Karl will give fans a peek at life backstage at the Gershwin Theatre, where Wicked is now in its seventh year. New videos will run every Thursday, with the first installment set to premiere on February 4.

Karl made his Broadway debut in Saturday Night Fever playing the role of Joey and covering the leading role of Tony Manero. He’s best known for playing homeboy Luke in the original cast of the off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz, UPS guy Kyle in Legally Blonde (opposite wife Orfeh) and Joe, Allison Janney’s office romance, in last season’s 9 to 5. Other New York credits include Broadway’s The Wedding Singer and off-Broadway runs in Saturday Night and Slut. Karl is also a composer/lyricist studying at the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop.

Wicked, which tells the untold story of The Wizard of Oz’s Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, also stars Dee Roscioli as Elphaba, Katie Rose Clarke as Glinda, Rondi Reed as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Alex Brightman as Boq, Timothy Britten Parker as Doctor Dillamond and Jenny Fellner as Nessarose.
