San Francisco Monuments Turn Green in Honor of Wicked

San Francisco Monuments Turn Green in Honor of Wicked
San Francisco City Hall During Wicked Week

To celebrate the return of the smash-hit musical Wicked to San Francisco, four of the city’s iconic monuments are going green—in lights, that is. From January 30 through February 6, the Coit Tower, Ferry Building, City Hall and War Memorial Veterans Building are turning Elphaba-green in lights that come on at sunset and burn until midnight.

This unusual event signals the return “home” of Wicked, which had its world premiere in San Francisco in 2003. The musical began a new open-ended engagement at the Orpheum Theatre on January 27.

The San Francisco company of Wicked includes Kendra Kassebaum as Glinda, Teal Wicks as Elphaba, Carol Kane as Madame Morrible, David Garrison as the Wizard, Nicolas Dromard as Fiyero, Tom Flynn as Dr. Dillamond, Deedee Magno Hall as Nessarose and Eddy Rioseco as Boq.
