New Yorkers Go Bananas for Cirque du Soleil's Banana Shpeel

A blizzard warning couldn’t keep a crowd of banana-wielding theatergoers away from the Beacon Theatre on February 10. Their mission? Scoring tickets to Cirque du Soleil’s brand new vaudeville extravaganza Banana Shpeel . To celebrate the unveiling of the show’s marquee, the nice folks at Cirque offered the public a very special offer: one ticket for the (reasonable) price of one banana! When the doors were opened, a long line of snowy souls poured in to collect their tickets, mingle with clowns, watch a tap dance rehearsal and enjoy treats such as banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery. All in all, it was a very successful event, and Broadway.com was there to capture the fun.
