ABC’s newest series GCB debuted to 7.6 million viewers on March 4, according to Entertainment Weekly. The Texas soap, which stars Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth and is based on Kim Gatlin’s book Good Christian Bitches, ranked second in the 10PM Sunday night time slot.
GCB centers on Amanda Vaughn (played by Leslie Bibb), a recently divorced mom who moves back to her childhood home in Dallas to find herself caught in a gossip-filled social scene, of which Carlene Cockburn (Chenoweth) is certainly a part.
The show also features Annie Potts as Gigi Stopper, Jennifer Aspen as Sharon Peacham, Miriam Shor as Cricket Caruth-Reilly, Marisol Nichols as Heather Cruz, Brad Beyer as Zack Peacham, Mark Deklin as Blake Reilly and David James Elliott as Ripp Cockburn. Steel Magnolias playwright Robert Harling penned the pilot episode and executive produces along with Sex and The City’s Darren Star, Aaron Kaplan and Alan Poul, who helmed the premiere.
