With spring break tourists beginning to fill New York, many shows saw their numbers jump during a week that welcomed three new productions to Broadway. Despite a flood at the theater that canceled two performances, Broadway's first-ever revival of Evita got off to a stellar start by banking over $1 million in its first week, and nearly selling out the Marquis Theatre. Welcome back, Eva! Disney's Newsies also had a great first week by completely selling out its first six shows at the Nedelander Theatre, taking in $735,991. Ghost also started haunting audiences at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, and played to 85.48% capacity. Meanwhile the Manhattan Theatre Club's revival of Wit, starring Cynthia Nixon, played its final performance.
