It was a rainy night in Manhattan on April 22, but the weather inside the Broadhurst Theatre was balmy as the New Orleans-set classic A Streetcar Named Desire opening on Broadway. The starry Tennessee Williams revival boasted an audience filled with theater titans like Pulitzer Prize winner Edward Albee, TV stars like Russell Hornsby, current Broadway stars like Norm Lewis and many more. It was an emotional night for stars Blair Underwood and Nicole Ari Parker, who made their Broadway debuts as Stanley and Blanche DuBois, joined by fellow newcomer Wood Harris as Mitch and Tony nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega as Stella.
