NBC can’t seem to get enough of Law & Order alum Jesse L. Martin. In addition to his upcoming guest spot on Smash, the Law & Order vet will star in the pilot of the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced drama The Secret Lives Of Husbands and Wives, according to Deadline.com. The dramatic soap centers on a murder, and the secrets and lies that build within the aftermath among a tightly woven group of three suburban couples and their families.

As a member of one of the families, Martin will play Greg Cooke, a perpetual frat boy and former hedge fund manager whose faltering finances force him into partnering with an unsavory business associate. Martin joins previously announced cast member Nicole Ari Parker and Perrey Reeves.

Martin has appeared on Broadway in Rent, The Merchant of Venice, The Government Inspector and Timon of Athens. His off-Broadway credits include The Winter's Tale, Fully Committed and The Arabian Nights. His other TV and film credits include The Philanthropist, Joyful Noise, A Christmas Carol, Ally McBeal, 413 Hope St. and the 2005 movie adaptation of Rent.
