The sassy ladies of Steel Magnolias first came to life off-Broadway 25 years ago—and on December 3, Robert Harling’s beloved play returned to the Lucille Lortel Theatre for a one-night-only reading benefitting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. And what a cast: Jan Maxwell as M’Lynn, Celia Keenan-Bolger as Shelby, Annie Potts as Truvy, director Judith Ivey as Clairee (stepping in for an ill Blythe Danner), original cast member Margo Martindale as Ouiser and Sarah Stiles as Annelle. After the show, the company and guests headed to Veranda Restaurant for a festive celebration. Broadway.com shared in the laughter and tears of this special evening. Click below to get in on the fun!
