Shelby's Back! Idina Menzel Will Return to Glee in April
Idina Menzel & Lea Michele in 'Glee'
Idina Menzel will reprise her role as Lea Michele's mother on 'Glee.'

Idina Menzel has more than just a Broadway return up her sleeve; the Tony winner is scheduled to reprise her role as Shelby on an upcoming episode of Glee, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.

The news was first announced by Glee star Lea Michele, who tweeted, “I spy @idinamenzel at #Glee today! So excited to have my mama back!” The episode featuring Menzel will reportedly air in mid-April.

For die-hard fans who recall the earlier seasons of Glee, Menzel appeared in 11 episodes as Rachel’s (Michele) biological mother Shelby Corcoran, who also happened to run a rival choir group. She later adopted Quinn’s (Dianna Agron) baby Beth and even sparked a fling with Puck (Mark Salling). Menzel last appeared on the series during season three.
