Tony Award winner Victoria Clark, Spring Awakening's Jennifer Damiano and Tony nominee Barbara Walsh will headine Inner Voices: Solo Musicals, a series of three world-premieres being presented by Premieres, a nonprofit musical theater development company. The show begins its 12-performance run at the Zipper Factory Theater on May 12, with opening night set for May 18.
Clark will star in Ellen Fitzhugh and Michael John LaChiusa's Tres Ninas, directed Jonathan Butterell, with musical direction by Todd Almond. Tres Ninas is the musical telling of a white American woman's affecting and being affected by "The Other" at three stages of her life.
Damiano will headline Laura Harrington and Jenny Giering's Alice Unwrapped, directed by Jeremy Dobrish, with music direction by Julie McBride. A 15- year-old girl has big shoes to fill with her dad missing in action, Mom refusing to come out of her bedroom, and a younger sister demanding normalcy—or else.
Walsh will perform Michele Lowe and Scott Davenport Richards' A Thousand Words Come to Mind, directed by Jack Cummings III, with music direction by Jon diPinto. When a mother's legendary silence is broken as she lies dying in a hospital room, her daughter embarks on a journey into the power of the unspoken word.
