Broadway Grosses: Box Office Down; Two New Shows Begin Previews
A scene from White Christmas
Broadway box offices took a dip this past week, with several shows experiencing a six-figure drop in grosses from the week before. A notable exception: Speed-the-Plow jumped more than $40,000 from the previous week. As Wicked and Jersey Boys returned to their familiar one-two spots, two newcomers joined the Broadway ranks, representing two ends of the sweetness spectrum: holiday heart-warmer White Christmas and the musical tale of a two-timing schemer, Pal Joey.
