Hunter Parrish Begins Spring Awakening Run a Week Early
Hunter Parrish in Spring Awakening
Hunter Parrish began his run as Melchior in the Broadway production of Spring Awakening on August 11, a week before his previously announced start date of August 18. Parrish, a star of the Showtime series Weeds, went into the show after rehearsing with the cast that afternoon. Broadway.com captured one of Parrish's onstage vocal rehearsals in an exclusive video.

Featured in Vanity Fair's August cover feature “Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood,” Parrish is now in his fourth season as Mary-Louise Parker's rabble-rousing older son, Silas, on Weeds. His feature film credits include the upcoming 17 Again, opposite Zac Efron and Matthew Perry; Freedom Writers, with Hilary Swank and Patrick Dempsey; and RV, as the son of Jeff Daniels and Kristin Chenoweth.

Spring Awakening, which features music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater, continues its run at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, directed by Michael Mayer. The show won eight 2007 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
