About the Show
Jim Bono, an affable sanitation worker who attempts to act as a moral compass when his self destructive best friend, Troy Maxson, begins to stray from the right path.
After making his Broadway debut in 2001's King Hedley II, Henderson has returned regularly to the Rialto in shows such as Drowning Crow and as Van Helsing in Dracula, The Musical. He has also enjoyed recurring roles on TV series such as New Amsterdam and Law & Order.
This is Henderson’s first Tony Award nomination.
Those who can, teach: Professor Henderson is currently on sabbatical from the teaching staff at SUNY Buffalo's Department of Theatre and Dance in order to perform alongside Denzel Washington in Fences.
“[Fences] is such a wonderful play about relationships. [August Wilson] wrote about the timeless things in [life]. I'm quite proud that he wrote about them from the African-American experience, but [the play] speaks to the human condition and human spirit.” —Henderson in an interview with Broadway.com, 4/26/10
