Annie Hits the Big 3-0!
You'd never know from the sound of her voice, but on June 4, Broadway's Little Orphan Annie had a 30th birthday bash of sorts at Virgin Megastore in Times Square. The event was a CD signing for Time Life's Annie: The 30th Anniversary Cast Recording, a two-disc collection that includes a new star-studded version of the score (with Carol Burnett reprising her turn as Miss Hannigan, which she memorably played in the 1982 film version of the show), plus the score for Annie 2: Miss Hannigan's Revenge and other odds and ends. On hand to celebrate and sign CDs were the one and only Andrea McArdle (Broadway's original Annie), Kathie Lee Gifford (a former Miss Hannigan), Conrad John Schuck (the longtime Daddy Warbucks) and other Annie alums. And yes, Sandy was there, too. Check it out!
