What is considered a Broadway theater? A Broadway theatre is defined by its size and location.
To be considered a Broadway venue, a theatre must have a seating capacity of 500 or more and be
located in the Theatre District in Manhattan, specifically between 41st and 54th Streets and
6th and 8th Avenues. There are currently 41 Broadway theaters in New York City.
