Broadway Barks' Dog Day Afternoon at Shubert Alley
Shubert Alley went to the dogs July 12, as some of Broadway's finest (and their furry friends) gathered to celebrate the 10th annual Broadway Barks event. Created by beloved stage veterans Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters to raise awareness about New York's homeless animals and the benefits of pet adoption, the celebrity (and dog/cat) studded affair helped gather resources for local shelters while pairing up dozens of deserving pets with their soon-to-be adoptive families. Star animal fans including Glenn Close, Peter Gallagher, Nathan Lane, Laura Benanti, Orfeh, Andy Karl and Mario Lopez were in attendance, curling up with cuddly cuties as host Bernadette Peters presented her new Best Selling children's book, aptly titled "Broadway Barks," to a grrrreat audience. But the real stars of the afternoon were the fetching adoptees themselves, who barked, woofed and mewed their way into attendees' hearts. Click here to take a walk down the alley with Broadway
