Celebrating MCC at 20, Marisa Tomei Reprises Her Award-Winning Performance in Beirut

Long before she won an Oscar for My Cousin Vinny, Marisa Tomei took home a 1987 Dramalogue Award for her performance in Alan Bowne's Beirut. Although that honor was bestowed upon the actress in the Los Angeles production of the play, Tomei first sank her teeth into Beirut in New York, when the play premiered in the Manhattan Class Company's one-act festival in 1986. To help celebrate the off-Broadway company's 20th anniversary, Tomei took part in a staged reading of the play on April 17 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, concluding a series of readings that included Wit and Nixon's Nixon. Broadway.com joined the audience to congratulate Tomei and the ongoing success of MCC.
