Lincoln Center Theater picked up a cool $1 million from patrons eager to attend its benefit reading of the late Wendy Wasserstein's The Sisters Rosensweig on March 5. The appeal was obvious: a starry cast (Stockard Channing, Christine Baranski and Edie Falco, plus original star Robert Klein and more) saluting the memory of a beloved playwright by sharing one of her most acclaimed works. After the performance at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre (held on a dark night for LCT's current production of The Coast of Utopia), we congratulated the company and members of Wasserstein's family during supper next door at Avery Fisher Hall.
