The ninth annual auction of Broadway Bears—one-of-a-kind teddy bears dressed in handmade costumes to represent memorable characters from plays and musical—was held on May 21. After a reception and display at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, host Bryan Batt and auctioneer Lorna Kelly presided over the bidding, with proceeds benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Among the treasures up for grabs: A Frankie Valli bear signed by Jersey Boys star John Lloyd Young, a Brenda bear from Movin' Out signed by Elizabeth Parkinson, and (for all you cultists) a blood-covered Carrie bear.
