As one quarter of the pop group Danity Kane, Aubrey O'Day is no stranger to playing the "Show Stopper." Which may be why singer and former Making the Band star looked right at home onstage at the Neil Simon Theatre on July 20, when she made her Broadway debut as Amber Von Tussle in the delightful hair-raising musical Hairspray. Abandoning her Danity Kane stilettos for the show's signature wigs and confectionary costumes, O'Day danced, sang and verbally sparred her way through the show with gusto, proving that even the sultriest members of Bad Boy Records can join "the nicest kids in town." O'Day wasn't the first Hairspray player go from Making the Band to the stage—co-star (and onstage love interest) Ashley Parker Angel, who appeared on the premiere season of the popular TV show, also jumped from the small screen into happy downtown Baltimore.
