Ellen Greene Lights a Torch! For Valentine's Day

After causing a commotion last year, Broadway baby Ellen Greene brought her club act Torch! back to Joe's Pub for a special encore engagement on February 14 for two sold out shows. The intimate nightclub, located at the Public Theater, is physically and emotionally the perfect venue for Greene--who got her start in Public productions like Threepenny Opera and In the Boom Boom Room. Of course, Greene is best known for originating the role of Audrey in the original off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors (later recreating her work for the popular film). Thankfully, Greene found room for her theater hits as well as contemporary soulful torch songs from singer/songwriters like Sarah McLachlan, Paula Cole and Jane Siberry in her set, which featured musical direction by piano-playing hubby Christian Klikovits.
