Backstage as Hamilton Marks 10 Years on Broadway

Stephanie Umoh, who plays Angelica, loves seeing young fans of the show in the audience. "They know all the words and you can see it on their faces that coming to see Hamilton is a dream come true for them."

Morgan Anita Wood plays Eliza. "I can’t express how grateful I am to have colleagues I can now call family," she says of her fellow Schuyler sisters.

Cherry Torres plays Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds. "I work with some incredibly kind and talented humans that make it easy to want to dive into the show every night."

Jarrod Spector plays King George. "When you're lucky enough to take part in arguably the most profound and important musical of this century, perhaps of all time, performing every day for an audience that cannot wait to go on the journey with you, there is no shortage of what to be grateful for."

Trey Curtis, who plays Alexander Hamilton, reveals the most essential part of his pre-show warm-up: push-ups. "I need to get some sets in to align everything. Also, I can’t do it without an album playing in the background. Right now it’s the new Clipse album."

Bryson Bruce, who plays Lafayette/Jefferson, takes the show's themes to heart: "I find myself questioning how free we are and what is it I want my legacy to look like." (He's also an avid Rubik's cube solver.)

Tamar Greene, who plays Washington, calls his wife every night after she's picked up their son from daycare. "That moment of connection helps ground me and reminds me why I do what I do."

"When I'm having a hard day, I look for the children in the audience and remember that this is for them," says Stephanie Umoh.

Ebrin R. Stanley, who plays Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, and Bryson Bruce, who plays Lafayette/Jefferson, kicking it backstage at the Rodgers. "So many people in that building keep the spirits high and I am forever grateful for that," says Stanley.

Morgan Anita Wood rocks her Pooh robe. "I’m living inside one of my biggest dreams right now. I get to walk to my lavender-painted, Pooh-themed dressing room that I’ve envisioned having since I was three years old."

History has its eyes on you but, sometimes, Trey Curtis has his eyes on the basketball.

As an Afro-Latina Puerto Rican woman, Cherry Torres loves being surrounded by a cast encompassing multiple races, cultures, and identities. "That kind of representation really matters—especially for younger audiences who didn’t always see people who look like us taking up space on a Broadway stage."

Jared Dixon plays Aaron Burr. The show is "a mirror for us all to consider how we, as American individuals and collectively, live out our own stories," he says.

Ten years on and going strong! Original Broadway cast member Thayne Jasperson plays Samuel Seabury.
