New York Theatre Workshop presented Broadway royalty to a kingdom’s worth of theater fans on May 11, rolling out the red carpet for Exit the King star Geoffrey Rush. Rush, an Academy Award winner, was joined by Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Doug Wright, who penned the book to musical The Little Mermaid in addition to his acclaimed I Am My Own Wife, for a public conversation which took place at NYTW’s East 4th Street space. The powerful duo riffed in front of a packed audience about what it’s like to live between the worlds of theater and film, something the successful pair know a lot about (though we’re very happy to have them on Broadway at the moment, thankyouverymuch).
