Hair Says Good Morning America (and Goodbye, Michael) on ABC

The stars of Tony Award-winning Best Revival Hair said Good Morning America instead of “Good Morning Starshine” on June 26, taking center stage for a performance as part of the popular ABC morning show’s Stars on Stage summer concert series. The tribe of Tony winners sang a medley of hit songs “Hair” and “Let the Sunshine In” live from Central Park, the same green location where the revival got its start in summer 2008 (originally playing at the Delacorte Theatre). Stars Gavin Creel and Will Swenson drew shrieks of glee from an audience bedecked in hippie garb, backed by flower-throwing co-stars even as rain showered down on the cast and concert attendees. The peace and love vibe didn’t stop there, however. Afterward, the players treated listeners to a rendition of Michael Jackson’s hit “I’ll Be There,” dedicating the performance to the late pop icon, who passed away June 25.
