Lawrence Wright has taken his day job into the night—and in front of an audience. A staff writer for The New Yorker, Wright is also the author of the National Book Award-nominated The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11. Indeed, it is from this vast material that Lawrence is currently drawing on to make his New York stage debut at off-Broadway's Culture Project in a 75-minute monologue entitled My Trip to Al-Qaeda. As directed by former Lincoln Center Theater Artistic Director Gregory Mosher, Lawrence's Trip opened on March 5 (to run through April 14), and attracted some pretty glamorous folks to the premiere.
