Julie Andrews, in town filming two ABC TV-movies based on the popular
Eloise childrens books, stopped by to see
Thoroughly Modern Millie, now playing at the Marquis Theatre, where Andrews herself headlined
Victor/Victoria. The event was historic since Andrews originated the role of Millie Dillmount in the 1967 film version that the musical is based on. Andrews (who was with 9-year-old Sofia Vassilieva who plays Eloise in the films) was thrilled to congratulate Tony winner Sutton Foster in her dressing room after the show as well as Gavin Creel, another of her co-stars from the
Eloise films.
