Playwrights Horizons launched its new season with People Be Heard on September 23. The new comedy by Quincy Long, which features songs by Michael Roth, concerns a small American town that becomes embroiled in a fierce debate over the teaching of evolution in the schools--and the single mother (who is also a stripper, natch), who is drawn into the fray. The company, director Erica Schmidt and the Playwrights gang partied at the nearby West Bank Cafe after the opening night performance.
