Everyone was dressed in their Sunday best for the opening night of Regina Taylor's Crowns, which opened on December 3 at Second Stage. Inspired by a book of photographs of African-American women in their church hats, the cast definitely knows how to hold their heads high! The chapeaus represent a range of emotions and symbols in the play with music, but for Lillias White and the rest of the cast and crew, the evening was nothing but joyful--and they celebrated with a party at Jack Rose restaurant.
